eSafetyAware and FIA Foundation promoted ESC at the 15th ITS World Congress 17 to 20 November 2008 in New York city. More than 8500 transportation officials and industry leaders from 45 countries participated in the event.

The ChooseESC! maskot met Mr. Shoichiro Toyoda, chairman of ITS Japan and previous chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation.

Mr. Mark Rosenker, chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board visited the ChooseESC! stand and offered his support to the campaign and to spreading the ESC message throughout the world. Mr Rosenker has been promoting ESC with the aim of supporting NHTSA in their effort to make ESC mandatory in the US.

Mr. Jacob Bangsgaard, FIA Foundation presented the ESC campaign activities in a special session on global safety activities together with experts from Japan and the US involved in safety initiatives. The presentation was well received and some of the participants praised the important role the campaign has in spreading the ESC message.

Ms. Irina Patrascu, eSafetyAware moderated a session on the role of ITS on environmental issues. The session gathered experts from the field discussing the worldwide efforts of involving ITS technologies in reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The ChooseESC! dummy was the big picture attraction at the event and has been featured in the ITS Daily News magazine, in an article stressing the importance of ESC in saving lives on roads worldwide.

A number of eSafetyAware partners were also present with stands at the congress.
