ChooseESC in UK Government Consultation |
On 21 April 2009, the UK Government launched a consultation called: "A Safer Way: Consultation on Making Britain’s Roads the Safest in the World".
This consultation document seeks views on the vision, targets and measures for improving road safety in Great Britain beyond 2010. The views received in response to the proposals put forward will influence the final shape of the Department's next road safety strategy, which is due to be published at the end of the year.
The paper highlights the importance of ESC in reducing fatalities, and underlines the Governments intention to encourage the take-up of ESC through raising awareness among consumers and to work with fleet operators to encourage the choice of vehicles fitted with ESC. The consultation paper makes also a specific reference to the ChooseESC campaign.
The consultation will run until 14 July 2009.
