World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb continues his support to the ESC campaign

World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb demonstrated the safety gains of ESC during a ChooseESC event in Salua, Spain 2 October 2008 during the Catalunya Rally.

The event was organised by ChooseESC in cooperation with the FIA, Citroen, and the Catalan Automobile Club RACC. Sébastien Loeb in a Citroen C4 demonstrated emergency manoeuvres with and without ESC at the service park area of the Rally at its headquarter in Salou.

The FIA Foundation Director General David Ward addressed the participants at the linked press conference where he stressed that there is still some way to go before all cars sold are equipped with ESC which is why the FIA Foundation continues to support the ChooseESC campaign raising the awareness of the benefits of ESC. "It is important that the consumers know ESC might save their life one day which is why they should not buy a car without" Mr Ward said. 4,000 road traffic deaths and 100,000 injuries could be avoided each year if all cars in Europe were equipped with ESC.
